Draft Day 2020
Nothing was going to stop us from celebrating the FATE Class of 2020! Our FATE seniors deserve all the love in the world and we wanted to commemorate their accomplishments and celebrate their plans. We had to put something super special together, especially given how much they had missed out on. And so, for the first time ever, Give Merit hosted FATE Draft Day!
Mimicking the NFL/NBA Draft, we created an hour-long show that featured highlights from our students’ in FATE, interviews with them and their families, and pick selections announced by special guests such as Jemele Hill, Tonya Allen, Tracy Reese, Mayor Mike Duggan, Lt. Governor Garlin Gilchrist, and Jalen Rose.
We were able to do a safe and socially distant send-off for the Class of 2020 where we premiered the show before it went public. There were tears, laughs, and well wishes.
We are SO PROUD of each of them!
Here's a few plans our graduating seniors have:
“I want to major in psychology so I can give back to the youth and talk about mental health and talk about things that a lot of people don’t know but I feel they should.” - Madison, Class of 2020
“I’m most proud about graduating from Jalen Rose and being on high honor roll” - Lamonte, Class of 2020
“I’m going to Albion to major in entrepreneurship with a minor in business marketing.” - Tyler, Class of 2020
“I see myself running my first business and I see myself making a change for people like in the FATE pledge - we are world changers.” - RJ, Class of 2020
