The Fate Program
Helping young people aspire, believe, and contribute
Give Merit’s FATE Program has operated with students from Detroit’s Jalen Rose Leadership Academy since 2012. This four-year, cohort-based program provides innovative programming that blends project-based learning, character development, career exposure, and mentorship into a co-curricular experience that emphasizes the value of education and its role in achieving long-term career and personal goals.
Give Merit has graduated one FATE cohort (FATE 1.0) and is now working with additional cohorts through an expanded program model in a newly renovated Detroit facility (FATE 2.0).
As an added incentive, each FATE student who maintains the standards set forth by Give Merit, graduates from high school, and is accepted into a college or university, receives a $5,000
scholarship towards his/her education. After graduating high school, participating students enter an alumni program.
We envision a world where every child is valued and has opportunities to be successful in life. A world where a child's FATE is determined by their character and not judgments based on their skin color or socioeconomic background.
